Panteleimon and his family are returning to their home in the States. For the last two years they served our parish as altar boys, English teacher and Easter Egg Hunting organizers. We appreciate Panteleimon and Joanna and two boys so much for their contributions and love. We hope and pray that our Lord grant them heavenly blessings always and good health to Helen who was born and baptized in Korea

Michael and Blaise have completed their duties at St. Paul Orthodox Church with their parents. Have a nice trip back and see you soon again. May the Lord protect you all!

St. Paul Church receives a letter from (Panteleimon) Joby Denny:

16th July 2017

Father Daniel asked me last week to write a single page letter to the church so you would have an account of sorts of us. I eagerly agreed not fully realizing the anguish that it would cause me, not because I now had to come up with something to say but because I realized after I began to think about it how much this church and it¡¯s people mean to me and to my family. I thought if I would just delay the writing of this letter I would be able to protect myself emotionally from having to really say goodbye. I don¡¯t like goodbyes because they involve emotions and I don¡¯t like being vulnerable but all of you have made great efforts to welcome us with open arms showing us the love of Christ our savior. You may never know how much your generosity and kindness have touched our hearts so we wanted a way to honor you all and always remember you. When our precious daughter, Helene, was born and ready for baptism, we did not hesitate as we considered having her baptized by Father Daniel here at this parish. In a way this was our way of always giving you a special place in our lives. We will always think of the many great memories while serving as altar boys. We were baptized shortly before arriving in Korea two years ago and being asked to serve behind the altar as new converts with the service in a language we did not understand overwhelming but your patience and gentle hands helped guide us to a somewhat comfortable position.
From you I am learning a valuable lesson in how to view children in church. I was raised in a church setting where children were meant to be quiet and behaved properly and churchly, not behaving like children. It¡¯s hard for me to sit still for very long and I can¡¯t imagine why I ever thought it rational to expect a child to do the same. When we first started attending an Orthodox Church I had a very difficult time in the service because there were children acting like children, mine included, and it was very distracting. I was always embarrassed when my children weren¡¯t perfectly still but the way you love on the children, especially when they are not on their best behavior was a beautiful display of patience and faith that I will take with me and continue to strengthen in my own life.
We feel like a part of this church, a part of this family and that is a testament to your love and commitment to God. Thank you very much for all you have done for us and I truly hope that we are able to come back and visit in the future.

In Christ,

Panteleimon, Joanna, Michael, Blaise, & Helene
